LAST season’s Sydenhams Premier Division top gun Dan Mason was at his sharpshooting best at Amesbury Town on Saturday.

The deadly Sholing marksman – scorer of 45 goals last term - weighed in with his latest hat-trick in the Boatmen’s 3-1 win.

After Mason had opened the scoring on ten minutes, his older brother Barry thought he had doubled the lead with a shot that looked well over the line. It wasn’t given, however, and Amesbury broke to level through Luke Greenway.

Four minutes after the restart Sholing were ahead again as ‘D-Dan’ neatly controlled the ball, turned and smashed it past ’keeper Paddy Crease.

Ryan Gosney made two good saves to protect that lead before Mason chased a long ball in behind and nodded it over Crease for his third of the game.

Third-placed Sholing tomorrow (Tuesday, 7.45pm) entertain neighbours Hamble Club, who suffered their first defeat of the season, beaten 5-3 at home by Lymington Town.

Lymo went 3-0 and then 5-1 up before the Monks hit back with two late goals.

Ashley Jarvis, Steve Walker, Jack Odam, Sam House and Manny Soetan struck for the New Forest visitors, with Nick Watts, Doug Rowe and Jack McCarthy replying.

There were goals galore at Shaftesbury too where Blackfield & Langley maintained their 100 per cent start with a 3-2 win.

Having gone ahead through a Jamie White penalty, the Watersiders went in 2-1 down at half-time after Jack Vallis and Ash Clarke had hit back.

Second-half goals from Joe Byrne and White – the ex-Saint’s ninth of the season – kept Blackfield second with five league wins on the bounce.

They will be aiming for a sixth tomorrow (Tuesday) when Bashley – held 1-1 at home by Bemerton on Saturday – visit Gang Warily.

Newly-promoted Baffins Milton Rovers remain top of the pile after Shane Cornish, Max Davies and Tyler Moret snuffed out Bournemouth Poppies at Victoria Park. Louis Bell’s side are a point ahead of Blackfield having played two games more.

Just like his old club Blackfield, Glenn Burnett is enjoying a maximum-point start.

Burnett’s Andover Town side reeled off their fourth win out of four at Newport IW where Reece Rusher (2), Shane Lock and Liam Gilbert all struck in the first half.

There were fireworks after the break when Port’s Emerson Tattersall was shown a second yellow card for a high tackle on Luke Dempsey.

As the bad feeling grew, a fracas broke out after the Islanders’ Jared Wetherick appeared to fling an elbow at Craig Blakeman. Both were shown red cards – Blakeman walking for retaliation.

Andover’s ten men almost punished Newport’s nine when sub Zach Glasspool rattled the crossbar.

Brockenhurst – home to Lymington Town on Tuesday (7.45) – piled further woe on Petersfield Town with a 2-1 win at their newly-named Meadens Skoda Arena. Matt Sheedy and sub Noel McCarthy-Gardiner hit Brock’s goals.

There are three Wessex Premier games today (Monday): Cowes Sports v Newport IW (12 noon), Fareham Town v AFC Portchester (3pm) and Team Solent v Bournemouth Poppies (7.45pm).
