A HAMPSHIRE college is throwing open its doors for the launch of a part-time study and apprenticeship drive following its recent exams success.

An open evening at Fareham College will promote a range of courses from health, beauty and catering to accounting.

The college is hoping to educate visitors about the discounts and financial incentives available to learners who may be embarking on their first qualification after months or years out of education.

Gill Sommers, director of students and recruitment, said: “We have seen an unprecedented level of interest in our technical and apprenticeship qualifications in the wake of the recent GCSE and A Level results days.

“This event will highlight all of the avenues available to learners in the local area and is designed to appeal to those who are looking to add to their existing skillset, or change their careers entirely.”

Course length ranges from as few as four days, as with electrical testing and inspection, to two years, such as with Foundation and BA Hons degrees in early childhood, and cost from £50.

Those looking to earn while employed will be introduced to a range of apprenticeship opportunities with schools and businesses including Lauro’s Brasserie in Fareham, Fairlands Nursery School, Shedfield and New Place Hotel, Shirrell Heath, as well as high profile national employers like Airbus and Halfords.

The open event will be held at the Bishopsfield Road campus on Wednesday, September 13, from 5pm to 7pm.
