A SOUTHAMPTON supermarket is set to receive a multi-million facelift, it has been revealed.

ASDA on the Marlands Western Esplanade in Southampton will receive a £2m facelift in a bid to improve the customer experience and provide a more modern store for shoppers.

The 39,000 sq ft store will have a new layout with brand new facilities including new rotisserie and pizza counters, an extended food to go shelf and a complete makeover of the chilled produce, bakery and frozen departments.

Alongside this, the Southampton store will have a complete makeover of the cafe and a revamped George fashion department to offer a bigger selection of clothing ranges.

Kevin Horsley, general store manager at Asda Southampton, said: “We’re really excited about all the new offerings soon to be in the store.

“Everyone’s working really hard behind the scenes to get the store ready and we can’t wait to show the community. During this time we aim to cause minimal disruption to the shopping of our customers and would like to thank them in advance for their patience over the course of the refresh.

“Off the back of the significant investment into making over the store, we’ve added a variety of new services and product offerings for our customers. It’s the same Asda Southampton store they know and love, but back stronger and better than ever!”

The store’s opening hours, once the transformation is complete, will be Monday between 8am and 11pm, Tuesday to Friday from 7am till 11pm, Saturday from 7am until 10pm and Sunday from 11am till 5pm.

A spokesperson added that the store will remain open during the refit to allow shoppers to keeping using the store with an official launch on Wednesday, September 13 and Sunday, September 17 for the new George.
