A RUNCORN nursery is celebrating after being hailed outstanding in an Ofsted inspection.

The Park Day Nursery on Moughland Lane was awarded the top grade in all four areas.

Leadership and management, the quality of teaching, learning and assessment, personal development and welfare and outcomes for children are first class.

Inspectors said: “Leadership is inspirational. Leaders and staff want the very best for children.

“Leaders have created a culture of vigilance in which staff have a thorough understanding of their responsibility to protect children from harm.

“Babies thrive as they explore a range of resources with all their senses.

“Children behave exceptionally well. Staff help children to make sense of their feelings and emotions.

“Staff know children extremely well and plan a range of stimulating and interesting learning experiences.

“Children are exceptionally well prepared for their next stage of learning.

“All children, including those who require extra support, are making excellent progress in their learning.”

The nursery is privately owned by Jacqui and Simon Carman and opened 11 years ago, providing care for children aged three months to five years.

There are currently have 65 pupils and staff are led by manager Katy Tilbury.

Jacquie said: “We are delighted to have been recognised for the high standard of quality childcare we always strive to achieve and have many parents returning to us as their families grow.

“All our staff are wonderful, motivated and hardworking and thoroughly deserve to be rated outstanding.

“We pride ourselves on having a fantastic and dedicated management team, some of whom hold early years professional and teaching qualifications.

“We enhance our practice through forest play and hope to become a forest nursery school very soon.

“The nursery aims to build on its strengths and would love to expand its provision within Halton in the future.”
