SOME of the best of British designs are set to arrive in New York in style next week for the start of the city’s fashion week.

Cunard’s Transatlantic Fashion Week set sail on board the luxury liner Queen Mary 2 from Southampton on Thursday.

For the second year running, the week brings together some of the fashion industry’s biggest names to host seven days of runway shows, talks, dinners and exclusive unveilings.

The QM2 will dock in the Big Apple on Thursday as New York Fashion Week 2017 begins.

British designer Julien Macdonald OBE, who is known for dressing the likes of Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Celine Dion and Kim Kardashian in his signature red carpet gowns, will showcase some of his most iconic pieces.

Over the course of Transatlantic Fashion Week, the celebrated fashion designer will put on two runway shows and take part in a Q&A about his inspirational fashion career.

Julien said: “Cunard’s Transatlantic Fashion Week is such an exciting concept that celebrates the world of fashion in an iconic and timeless venue, the Queen Mary 2. I’m looking forward to having a week on board and bringing some fun and glamour to Cunard’s guests.”

Other fashion greats on board include the highly respected fashion historian and style commentator Colin McDowell MBE and Karl Dunkley, the founder and CEO of Royal Warrant holder Grosvenor Shirt.

Fashion graduates from the Parsons School of Design graduates will also be showcasing their collections.

The ship will also be home to pop-up stores stocking the designs of Melissa Odabash, whose luxury swimwear has been worn by Eva Longoria, Gwynth Paltrow and Victoria Beckham, and shoes from Lucy Choi – Niece of the legendary Jimmy Choo.

Upmarket handbag firm Mulberry is also launching its autumn/ winter 2017 range on the voyage.
