BLACKFIELD & Langley are in seventh heaven, sitting top of the Sydenhams Premier Division with a full house of 21 points.

Ex-Saint Jamie White weighed in with both goals at Gang Warily as the Watersiders saw off title rivals Sholing 2-0 to reel off their seventh straight league win.

Sholing were missing five key players with Barry, Byron and Dan Mason and Marvin McLean all at a family wedding and Lee Wort on holiday.

It left Zac Mouland and Bradey Norton up front in a rejigged Boatmen’s line-up.

Blackfield got lucky on 14 minutes when Franklyn Clarke’s mis-hit shot from outside the area hit White and spun in off the post past the wrong-footed Ryan Gosney.

Sholing felt they should have had a penalty when Jamie Bulpitt was tackled from behind but nothing was given and, for all their hard work, the visitors had no end product.

The introduction of subs Jake Hoole and Jean-Luc Ramdin injected some pace into the Boatmen’s game but, after a good save by Gosney, they were caught again on 86 minutes as Blackfield stylishly wrapped up the points.

Sub Callum Cunliffe-Piley burst down the right and crossed and this time White knew exactly what he was doing as he calmy side-footed home.

“Was it the right time to play Sholing? Probably,” said B&L co-assistant boss Chris Farrell.

“They lacked a cutting edge which is understandable when they had five players missing, including both strikers – one of whom (Dan Mason) got 40-odd goals last season.

“We’re not stupid enough to think they’re not going to be in the mix – of course they are.

“We’ve won seven out of seven but, as someone pointed out afterwards, we did the same last season and then got stuck there.

“We go to Team Solent, who haven’t won a game yet, this Saturday and we’ll treat them with respect and try and make it eight.”

Basement boys Team Solent lost 3-2 at Bashley, leaving them with just one point from their opening eight league games.

Bashley were gifted the lead on two minutes when Solent ’keeper Josh Milsom, surprised by a hasty back pass, presented the ball on a plate for Harrison White to fire home.

Harry McGrath made it 2-0 five minutes into the second half, heading home from Harry Cooper’s perfectly flighted free-kick.

Sam Jackson’s long-range blast then cannoned off the Solent crossbar, closely followed by Bashley’s third goal as Lewis Aimson surged down the wing and crossed for Kabba Jack to crash home.

As Bash stepped off the gas, Team Solent skipper Jemal Wiseman hit back with two late goals to make it a nervy finish for the Foresters.

*LYMINGTON Town left it late to claim all three points, 2-1, at Bournemouth Poppies.

Trailing to an Eder Baptista goal, they pushed defender Steve Walker up top to try and rescue a point.

Walker did better than that, equalising in the last minute of normal time before setting up Sam House for the injury-time winner which hoists unbeaten Lymo up to second in the Sydenhams Premier.

Due to the clash with cricket, Lymington have played all their games away from home thus far.

They make their long-awaited return to The Sports Ground tomorrow evening (Tuesday) to entertain Horndean in the Hampshire FA Senior Cup first round. The winners host Bournemouth Poppies.
