The MV Auto Eco, the world's first dual fuel car carrier
A UNIQUE ship is due to dock in Southampton tomorrow.
MV Auto Eco is the world’s first duel-fuel car and truck carrier capable of running on liquid natural gas or heavy fuel oil and marine gas oil.
At 181 metres, with a 30-metre beam, she is one of the one of the most technically advanced pure car/truck carriers ever built.
Boasting a capacity of approximately 4,000 cars, including 6,000 sqm of high and heavy cargo, Auto Eco has the capability to load cargo on 10 decks to a maximum weight of 160MT.
The Chinese built vessel is the first of two dual fuel PCTCs commissioned by European Car Carriers (UECC), which is the daughter company of Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) and Wallenius Lines.
