A DRIVER has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after a tractor 'ran over' a sports car on a Hampshire road.

Emergency srevices were called to the A32 in Droxford following the crash, which involved an Austin Sprite and a tractor.

A 75-year-old man who was driving the sports car suffered serious injuries but the tractor driver is not believed to have been hurt.

The road was closed at the A32 crossroads with the B2150 at around 8.30am on Wednesday, but was reopened shortly before 1pm.

A Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman confirmed that a tractor ran over a sports car.

One crew from Wickham , one from Bishop’s Waltham and one from Cosham  Fire Station were called to the scene at 8.34am.

The news comes after Gena Close, 56, was killed in a crash on the road on Wednesday, August 22.

She was rushed to hospital but died a short time later.

As reported by the Daily Echo, an investigation by vehicle tracking system Quartix named the A32 through the Meon Valley and North Fareham as the fifth most dangerous in the country.

Hampshire Constabulary says there were 15 collisions on the A32 last year, and seven in the first six months of this year.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call polce on 101, quoting incident 170 of September 6.
