EASTLEIGH’S next opponents Guiseley have a new manager at the helm.

When the Lions entertain Richard Hill’s Spitfires in the Vanarama National League this Saturday, it will be their first game under former Mansfield Town and Barrow boss Paul Cox.

Cox, 45, left Barrow last month, just five games into the new season.

He replaces Adam Lockwood who was sacked by Guiseley last week with the Nethermoor Park outfit in the relegation zone.

Cox, who had managed Barrow since November 2015, has proven pedigree.

He led the Bluebirds to their highest ever non-League finish of seventh last season and his greatest achievement was guiding Mansfield to promotion to the Football League in 2013.

A Guiseley AFC statement read: “Paul is rightly regarded as one of the top managers at this level.

"We look forward to a long and successful period with him at the helm as we embark on our three-five year plan where we intend to make sure that the club continues to thrive.”

Guiseley are second to bottom with five points from eight games.
