LIVERPOOL John Lennon Airport has reported its busiest August since 2011.
Latest figures show that 517,000 passengers flew last month.
An extra 70,000 passengers have used the airport so far this year, boosting the total numbers for 2017 to date to almost 3.4 million.
The growth comes on the back of a number of new routes added throughout the year.
Blue Air introduced scheduled services to Alicante, Milan, Larnaca and Rome whilst Ryanair’s added Prague, Bari and Girona to its destinations, Wizz Air launched Lublin and TUI’s now flies to Ibiza.
More new routes will operate from Liverpool later in the year.
Flights to Venice and Milan Malpensa are being launched by easyJet and Ryanair.
A dedicated charter service to Iceland is being introduced by Superbreak while Transun and Santa’s Lapland are offering increased Lapland charters.
Air service development director Paul Winfield said:”We are delighted to see continued growth at Liverpool John Lennon Airport and continue to work with existing and new operators to explore further opportunities from here.
