IT’S TWENTY years since it first came out – and now it’s back with a series of special screenings.

A Spice Girls superfan is bringing Spice World back to the big screen to celebrate the hit film’s anniversary.

James Dixon, 30, has arranged for the film to be shown at more than 130 screenings across the country and Southampton is one of them.

He said: “I’ve been a fan for 21 years. They brought so much energy to the music industry. They released catchy songs as well as being fun girls. Which they passed on to their fans too. I own a fan page for the Spice Girls with more than 60,000 followers. And I have organised all the screenings by myself.

Although he’s never met the girls James was in awe at their last reunion – when Mel B sang her solo of Are You Gonna Go My Way? directly to him as he sat in the front row.

And although he was only expecting to organise one screening, after the incredible response to his anniversary celebration idea James is hoping to take the screening worldwide with the aid of Ourscreen, an organisation that helps film fans choose the movies they want to see shown at their local cinema.

Spice World is showing at the Harbour Lights and Odeon Southampton on September 29.
