A MAN was stabbed during a daylight attack in a Southampton park.

Police were called to Houndwell Park following an "altercation" between two men in the park at about 10.50am on Monday.

A 28-year-old man was close to the children's playground near the bus stops when he was stabbed and suffered a small hip injury.

The incident comes weeks after a teenager was allegedly raped in an early-morning attack in the same park.

The alleged attacker is described as being white, about five feet and seven inches tall, and was wearing a dark hooded top and a satchel.

Detective Constable Marsha Brown said: "Were you in the Houndwell Park area around the time of the incident?

"Did you see a dispute between two men?

"We would like to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident and identify the person responsible."
