ONE of Southampton’s most popular dessert parlours is set to serve its frozen delight 100 feet above the city centre.

Ice cream company Sprinkles Gelato, which has stores scattered about the city and further afield, has joined the line-up for the much-anticipated Southampton in the Sky.

The six-day dining event, which has been to Newcastle, London and Bristol, will see 22 guests at a time suspended 100 feet skyward for the height of fine dining above Guildhall Square, with breakfast, lunch, dinner, and evening events taking place from September 21.

Now, Sprinkles has joined the menu, with visitors being offered the chance to have a scoop of ice cream above the city rooftops.

Ibrahim Ahmed, operations director said: “We’re very excited to be part of this amazing opportunity to do something different in the city we love.

“Southampton is the home of Sprinkles and it’s fantastic that something so innovative is going to be hosted here.

“We love doing new things and breaking the mould of what’s expected from a dessert parlour. We can’t wait to serve up some amazing treats in the sky.”

Founded in Southampton in 2012 and now with 15 stores across the UK, the handmade desserts will be on offer to diners in two afternoon sessions, starting at 3.30pm and 4.30pm for £50 per person.

The dessert parlour is joining existing restaurant partners Chewton Glen Hotel, Tapas Barcelona and Kuti’s Brasserie.

The event has been extended from its original dates, with the event set to first run only until September 24.

Dale Agar of Events in the Sky said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have Sprinkles Gelato on board for the additional two dates we have added, due to demand for tickets.

“We had gelato partners at our Bristol in the Sky and Newcastle in the Sky dates and tickets had been snapped up so we expect the same response from Sprinkles’ fans in Hampshire.”

Sprinkles has also created a dedicated menu for the event, featuring mini crepes and a milkshake tasting board.
