Emergency services were called to Townhill Way following the two collisions, which happened at about 8.22pm on Tuesday.

The road was closed between Meggeson Avenue and Mousehole Lane while Hampshire Constabulary’s forensic investigation unit worked at the scene.

A red Vauxhall Astra hit the 36-year-old man on Vanguard Road, before he was then struck by a second car and became trapped.

Fire crews from Eastleigh were called to the junction to help free the man from underneath the second vehicle.

A statement from South Central Ambulance Service said: “The patient was stuck underneath the second car on arrival.

“After initial treatment at the scene he was then taken to the major trauma centre at University Hospital Southampton.”

Police say the man driving the Corsa was uninjured but Hampshire Fire and Rescue told the Daily Echo that a man was cut from the car and put in the care of the ambulance service.
