A GIANT Ferris wheel rolled into Southampton at the weekend – and lucky Echo readers have just hours left to win a free family ride.

The 115ft attraction, dubbed the “UK’s tallest mobile Ferris wheel”, has been erected in the Bargate and is now open to the public.

After arriving in Southampton on Friday, from the Great Dorset Steam Fair, its operators Eventive Funtime will spent the weekend constructing the sky high attraction.

The observation wheel, which was manufactured in the Netherlands, will offer a unique aerial view of the city.

Riders will be able to pick out Southampton’s sights from the attraction’s lofty peak, as well as a sneak glance at this year’s theyachtmarket.com Boat Show, which began on Friday.

Operators, Eventive Funtime, are even hoping lucky riders will be able to see the Isle of Wight on a clear day.

Ordinarily, the five minute ride costs £4-per-person and £12 for a family of four.

But 25 lucky families will be able to ride for FREE after the Daily Echo teamed up with Eventive Funtime for a reader competition.

To be in with a chance of winning a family ticket, for up to four people, all you have to do is answer these three questions:

1. What country was the wheel manufactured in?

2. What is the wheel’s total height when fully set up?

3. What was the last event attended by the wheel before coming to Southampton?

Please send your answers, accompanied by your name, address and telephone number, to the email address promotions@dailyecho.co.uk, with the subject “Big Wheel Competition”.

All entries must be in by 5pm tomorrow (Monday September 18). Normal Newsquest rules and competition conditions apply.

Winners will receive a confirmation letter and winners’ details will be passed to Eventine Funtime for confirmation.
