A FAMILY escaped from a house fire in a Hampshire town caused by a candle.
Firefighters from Fareham Fire Station rushed to a property in Mayridge, Fareham after reports of a property at around 12am.
Two adults and an eight year old girl living in the home were woken up by the property's smoke alarm and managed to leave the building before the crews arrived.
The fire was caused by a candle left unattended in the lounge of the property and damaged the stairs of the house.
A Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman confirmed that no one was injured - but the Red Cross provided the family with a place where to spend the rest of the night.
The crews used one hose reel and two breathing apparatus and left the scene at around 3am.
