A BODY has been found in a Hampshire river.

Police have located a body in the water at Curbridge Creek, Curbridge this afternoon.

They received a call from a member of the public at 11.57am on Monday morning.

Police are currently on scene in Botley Road- on the river bank close to the Horse and Jockey pub.

A number of officers have taped off a section of the bank whilst investigations continue.

Alex Turner, from Botley, is the landlord of the Horse and Jockey.

He said: "It was a coach driver from a school trip who found it.

"There was a group of students from a junior school who were doing a walk through the woods and the coach driver was having a coffee at the pub.

"He went out to take a picture of the river and saw the body.

"My dad was out at that time and the driver told him and we called the police.

"This is right at the end of the river Hamble so the body could have come from anywhere.

"I was shaken up when my dad told me there was a body there."

More to follow.
