A HAMPSHIRE MP has been appointed to a new role.
Eastleigh MP Mims Davies has been elected by colleagues as chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Commercial Radio.
There are 340 licensed commercial radio stations in the country and the cross-party group aims to promote them in Westminster.
Ms Davies said: “ In Eastleigh we are lucky to have so many excellent commercial radio options – I often listen to Wave, Heart, and Capital radio stations whilst driving around the constituency – and it is so important that stations such as these are given a platform to make their concerns known.
“I’m looking forward to an exciting programme of events across the year ahead and to working with the industry body for commercial radio in the UK, Radiocentre, who I have already had meetings with to discuss the best agenda moving forward.”
