HYTHE & Dibden suffered a second-half collapse at Bashley to go crashing out of the FA Vase 4-0.

The Sydenhams One underdogs went in 0-0 at the break, but their defence was punctured within a minute of the restart when goalkeeper Matt Fredericks parried a fierce Kabba Jack shot only for it to be returned with interest by Bash skipper Brad Morris.

Ten minutes later a well-flighted Harrison White corner was met with a towering Sam Jackson header for 2-0 – the youngster’s first senior goal – and after a frustrating first half, Jack latched onto a through ball and slotted number three past the over-worked Fredericks.

To their credit, Hythe refused to throw in the towel and Bash ’keeper Mike Edgar was forced into a full-stretch save by the experienced Steve Marwood.

But, fittingly, it was the influential Lewis Ross who crowned Bashley’s victory, making a well-timed run to meet Ben Bolton’s headed assist from an awkwardly bouncing ball.
