A HAMPSHIRE university has been named one of the best 100 in the country in a national league table.

Solent University has climbed 10 place in a year taking it to 100 out of 131 institutions, compared to 110 out of 128 last year in the Good University league table.

It marks the second year the university has risen in a league table, after climbing 11 places in the University of the Year category for student-voted WhatUni’s Student Choice Awards, taking it to 85 out of 127.

The university was also ranked ninth in the sector for graduate start-ups, 12th for boosting graduate earnings, and is above Oxford, Liverpool and Durham when it comes to graduate employment rates.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Julie Hall said: “We are an innovative, inclusive and ambitious university that excels in preparing students to succeed in the global world we live in and meeting employers’ expectations. We are happy to see this continuing to be reflected in university league tables.

“Recent milestones include opening our £6 million maritime campus and work starting on our £28 million new sports building. We have also been granted Research Degree Awarding Powers (RDAP) allowing us to design, deliver and award our own research degrees.

This is the second rise in league tables for the University this year after it climbed 11 places in the University of the Year category for student-voted Student Choice Awards, taking it to 85 out of 127.
