THIS is the moment a robber threatened a man with a knife before stealing cash from him in a Southampton street.

Police released the footage in an attempt to track down a cyclist who accosted a pedestrian outside the Premier Inn on New Road.

The victim did not want to be identified so Hampshire Constabulary has removed him from the video footage of the incident, which happened at about 1.30am on Saturday, September 23.

The robber, who took £20 from the victim, is described as being white, of slim build, about six feet and one inch tall, and had short brown hair.

He looked about 22 years old, was wearing a puffer jacket, had a black right eye, and was riding a bike.

Detective Constable Paddy Coughlin from the Western Investigation Team said: "Do you recognise the description of this man?

"Although this was in the early hours of the morning, we believe other people, also making their way home, may have witnessed this incident or know who this man is.

"We know this CCTV isn’t the best quality but someone may be able to identify him.
