A SOUTHAMPTON pub is set to open its doors next month, weeks after its mysterious closure.
The Bitterne Park Hotel shut suddenly in the summer when the landlady left at short notice.
As previously reported by the Daily Echo, the pub’s owners Ei Publican Partnerships, decided to keep the pub closed and refurbish it while they searched for a new manager.
Now Ei say the pub is set to reopen in the middle of October with a new-look menu and drinks list.
A spokesperson for Ei said: “We are pleased to confirm that the Bitterne Park Hotel, Southampton, will be reopening in mid-October with a new publican and new retail offer.
“We look forward to welcoming the local community for a drink once the pub re-opens.”
The circumstances surrounding the Bitterne Park’s closure earlier this year remain unclear.
Former landlady Tracy Bondsfield confirmed she had left the facility to take over at another pub, something which she had hinted at after a stabbing took place at the Bitterne Park in March.
At the time, Tracy said: “It has made me think about things, maybe I could be at another pub, but I need to speak to the owners.”
She took over the pub last December after the previous landlord – Krista Campbell, who took over in April 2016 – was ‘asked to leave’.
Regulars claimed last month that Tracy had left the facility for another pub in Gosport.
The new publican will be the third at the facility in the last year.
