EMERGENCY services were called to the scene of an incident in Southampton city centre.
A photograph from the scene shows an ambulance and a patient transport service vehicle at the junction of Portland Terrace and Bargate Street, near the Westquay centre.
A witness said the incident, which happened at about 2pm on Saturday, involved a man and that traffic was building in the area.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman refused to comment other than to say that a man had been taken away in an ambulance.
The Daily Echo has contacted South Central Ambulance Service for a comment.
The road is now clear and traffic has returned to normal.
