A HAMPSHIRE air cadet squadron has been left “devastated” after their minibus was targeted by vandals for the third time this year.

All four wheels on Totton air cadets’ vehicle were removed and damaged was caused to the underpart of the bus.

The vehicle also had its windows smashed twice early this year, taking it off the road.

The damage caused was discovered by staff after the weekend upon returning to the cadets building at Cheam Way.

The 2498 Totton squadron air cadets rely on their minibus to travel to their activities such as competing at inter squadron sport events, cadet training such as first aid, flying and participating in the Duke of Edinburgh walks in the New Forest.

The group are also no longer able to travel off site to undertake their Remembrance Day training, and have had to reschedule it for later in the month.

Hannah Rowell, commanding officer for the squadron, said: “Mindless vandalism is going to limit the activities we are able to offer the cadets for the near future.

“We are now going to depend on the kindness of our fellow air cadet family to share transport to events.”

Cadet Simon Barker, 18, from Totton, said: “I feel absolutely devastated that I might not be able to go flying.

“It is just another senseless act of vandalism that prevents us from enjoying ourselves.”

A Hampshire Constabulary spokeswoman said: “We received a report on October 3 regarding the theft of four wheels from a minibus in Cheam Way.

“It happened sometime between 9pm on Sept 29 and 10am Oct 2.

“There have been no arrests at this time. Anyone with information can contact us on 101, quoting 44170383579.”
