NUFFIELD Southampton Theatres (NST) has announced a new season of the city’s best amateur theatre companies to get 2018 off to a flying start.

Southampton Operatic Society returns to NST Campus with a musical version of the much-loved tale of Cinderella from January 16 to 20.

Originally written by Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein II as a musical for television, with Julie Andrews in the title role, the sumptuous score soon saw the show bursting out of the box, onto to the stage and into the hearts of musical theatre fans worldwide.

With stand-out songs including The Prince is Giving a Ball, Cinderella’s In My Own Little Corner and the hilarious Stepsisters’ Lament, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella promises to be a magical experience for audiences of all ages with not a pantomime boo or hiss in sight.

SUP Theatre Company then presents Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency. which runs from January 30 to February 3, also at Nuffield campus.

A sparkling new comedy about the fundamental interconnectedness of all things, it involves everything from a mysterious murder, ghosts and pizza to aliens and an impossible sofa.

Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency is based on the bestselling book by Douglas Adams.
