POLICE are continuing their search for a man wanted in connection with an attempted sexual assault last week.

On Wednesday October 11, a 12 year old girl was walking to school through an alleyway off Weymouth Avenue, in Gosport at around 8am.

A man then grabbed her by the arm and tried to put his hand down her top.

The girl managed to struggle free and run to safety.

The victim has described the man as:

  • White
  • He was aged in his early 40s
  • He was around 6ft tall and of muscular build
  • He had short, blond, greasy hair
  • He was wearing a dark blue hooded top

An e-fit image of the man has now been released by officers investigating the case.

Gosport district commander, Chief Inspector Sharon Woolrich said: “I understand that this type of incident will be of concern to local parents.

"Officers will be patrolling the area around Weymouth and Eastbourne Avenues every morning and afternoon when school children will be in the area for the next few weeks.

“We are also speaking to schools and our partners to offer advice on personal safety. I’d remind children to walk in groups where possible and to stick to well trafficked and well-lit areas.

“Officers are following a number of lines of enquiry to progress this investigation, including reviewing CCTV and preparing an e-fit image of the man.

“If you have any concerns please call us on 101 and ask for Gosport’s Neighbourhood Policing Team or speak to one of our officers patrolling the area".
