Dalian Players present their latest hilarious production 'Curtain Up' next week.

This uproarious comedy by Adam Croft centres around the Gerrysthorpe Players, a company of semi professional actors who are rehearsing a new play by local writer Rodney Ashington while unknown to them the local council are plotting to demolish the village hall (where the production is to be staged) and replace it with a supermarket. Salvation arrives in the form of Ray, a very dubious lawyer, who delivers exactly the right kind of “persuasion” to get the council’s plans stopped. Expect lots of hilarious moments from ageing actress Hetty who struggles to remember her lines, male actors Victor and Luke who both have designs on the same young actress, long suffering director Maria Kilburn who is tested to the limit by excessive supplies of cake and guest actress Lesley De Vere who once appeared in “Crossroads” (or maybe that was “Eldorado” darling).

On stage from Thursday 26 to Saturday 28 October at 7.30pm, at Woolston Methodist Church, Manor Road North, Woolston. Tickets available from the box office on 023 8049 0450.
