A TWYFORD mum-of-two will host an auction on her social media account which is set to raise thousands for child refugees across the Middle East.

Hannah Otto will host the bidding online on her Instagram for five nights in an effort to help those in Syria and other nearby countries.

The 27-year-old, of Park Lane, who is a full-time mum to Darcey, aged three, and Betty, aged one, said: “I have a real heart for Syria due to hearing the personal accounts of many friends we have living in Damascus, so as an emergency response to the crisis in Aleppo last year, I quickly put together an auction, #SpendforSyria, hosted on my Instagram account.

“It featured 40 donations from independent brands and we raised an incredible £3,620 within 10 days of my original idea.

“It was a true display of hard work, generous makers and the often criticised but fantastic world of social media combining to help those in devastating need across Syria.”

Now, Hannah is organising a second auction from November 13 to 17 where she will be listing up to ten lots an evening, where her followers bid for items in the comments section.

At the end of the auction there will also be a special prize worth £600 which people can be in with a chance of winning by donating £5 for every ticket in an online raffle type competition.

Hannah continued: “The auction generally consists of children’s clothing and toys, homeware and one-off opportunities or experiences and it has been curated by myself over the last few weeks to be of the highest quality featuring independent makers across the country.

“I am also aiming to champion some local brands too by featuring their donations.”

She added: “I believe social media and ‘Insta-Mums’ are often given a bad rep online. This is how one mum can spend her evenings once the kids are in bed, solely contacting people she ‘knows’ through Instagram and end up making a little bit of difference for children who are in such devastatingly different circumstances to her own.”

The auction will all be held on Hannah’s account, @theottohouse.
