THOUSANDS of spectators are expected to watch a free fireworks display beside the Silver Jubilee bridge on Sunday.

Halton Council’s 21st annual show takes off from the gantry wall between the Manchester Ship Canal and the River Mersey at 7.30pm.

The spectacular display will be synchronised to classic hits from movie themes.

Music will be played from 6pm at viewing areas on Mersey Road in Runcorn and Victoria Promenade in West Bank in Widnes.

Spectators can also watch the fireworks from The Brindley café terrace.

Sleeping Beauty panto star Rebecca Lake will meet visitors at the theatre.

Halton Cllr Eddie Jones, board member for events, said, "Halton Council’s annual firework display is a great opportunity for the entire borough to come together.

"It will be great to see so many people from our two towns and beyond coming out to enjoy this great family event.

"It also provides a safe organised environment for people to enjoy the evening.”

Parking restrictions will be in place near both viewing areas.
