TODAY (April 1) marks the start of national pet month, and the British Hen Welfare Trust are reminding Hampshire animal lovers not to forget the feathered friends.
The charity, which was set up in 2005, rehomes laying hens, and has issued a plea to adopt some of the birds in their care.
Founder of the charity, Jane Howorth MBE said: "Adopting some of these retired hens is one of the best things you will ever do; they are endearing, inquisitive and love to be part of family life."
National pet month focuses on celebrating animals and fundraising for charity.
We at the Daily Echo want to see your favourite pets, and we will pick a winner to feature each week on our Pets Page.
Send in pictures of you and your beloved pets to picdesk@dailyecho.co.uk for a chance to be named as Pet of the Week.
