EASTLEIGH’S young guns have reached the end of the road in the FA Youth Cup.

The Spitfires under-18s paid the price for a poor start in their 7-2 first round defeat to Plymouth Argyle at Home Park.

Two Tom Purrington goals and one apiece from Matthew Ward and Luke Jephcott (penalty) put Argyle 4-0 up before Tom Bearwish headed home for Eastleigh from Aaron Lobb’s corner.

Bearwish struck again after the break for 4-2, but Plymouth ran away with it in the closing stages as George Coombes (OG), Cameron Sangster and Rio Garside cemented their path through.

Sholing's under-18s will be looking to join Plymouth in the second round tomorrow (Thursday, 8pm) when they entertain Clevedon Town at the Universal Stadium.
