A SOUTHAMPTON mother was left with a huge Amazon bill after her five-year-old daughter ordered a diamond necklace and almost £300 of the same Disney toy.

Sophie Stone, 32, was left baffled after she received the mystery delivery earlier this month containing the £100 necklace and twelve Disney Moana toys.

Initially, Sophie thought that her husband Dan had brought it for her however he was left just as puzzled as she was.

But the mystery was soon solved after their five-year-old daughter Bella declared: "My necklace has arrived."

Consequently, Sophie realised that she must have made the order herself using voice recognition on the family's Amazon Fire tablet.

Sophie said: “When the postman first showed up, I was so confused.

“I was trying to remember what I’d ordered, then began wondering if my husband, Dan, had bought me a present. When I asked, though, he was just as confused as me.

“Bella looked really sheepish, and that’s when we knew she had something to do with it.”

Sophie logged onto her Amazon account to view her order history and saw Bella had splashed out £107 on the diamond jewellery and 12 Moana fish hook toys costing £287.

She spoke to her daughter and discovered that she had managed to order the haul using voice recognition technology when she asked to see Elsa from Frozen, and it took her to the diamond necklace.

The five year old had also somehow signed her mum up to a six-month subscription of Amazon Music and purchased DVDs of Trolls and Boss Baby.

Sophie added: “We all have our own passwords, but Ellie knows mine and must’ve told Bella so that they could log in.

“They don’t use the tablet a lot, but Dan and I had been out on the evening when she ordered everything. We’d told the babysitter to let them use it, if they got too much for her.

“When we asked Bella to explain how she’d done it, she said she’d asked to see ‘Elsa from Frozen, ’ and the voice recognition had taken her to the necklace, which is blue and silver, like something Elsa would wear.

“Bella absolutely loves jewellery, which is what made it funnier. It’s such a ‘her’ thing to order.”

Initially, Sophie panicked when she saw how much her daughter had spent in case she could not get a refund but after posting on Facebook, her friends reassured her that she should be able to get the money back.

Thankfully, Amazon staff were very understanding, and the funds were credited to her account straight away.

Sophie added: “I was worried I’d have to pay out loads to send everything back, especially as one of the things Bella ordered was from New Jersey in the USA, which was about £50.

“In the end, though, I was only down about £20. Amazon were really good about it.

“The Moana toys haven’t arrived yet, but they said just to refuse the delivery if they do. I’ve got no idea what’s going to show up at my door over the next few days.”

Seeing the funny side, Sophie decided not to tell Bella off for her accidental order but explained, gently, why she should never order things without her parents’ permission.

Sophie has also since changed her password – just to be on the safe side.

"I’m not telling anyone what it is this time." she joked.
