POLICE have launched a search for a man after a car was stolen in a burglary at a Southampton home, while the occupants were sleeping.

The burglar made off with a Peugeot 2008 Allure after breaking into the house in Bevan Close, Weston, through a rear patio door and stealing a handbag containing keys to the car, which was parked on the driveway.

The incident took place overnight on Sunday, October 22, but now police have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to as part of their investigation.

PC Carla Pearce said: “This burglary happened some time between the late evening of Sunday, October 22 and the early hours of Monday, October 23 while the occupants of the house were in bed.

“The person responsible stole a handbag, a wallet and a white Peugeot 2008 Allure – the last three characters of the number plate are XVA.

“The stolen vehicle is still missing, but is known to have visited McDonalds in Swaythling and Applegreen petrol station in Mansbridge in the early hours of October 23.

“Have you seen this vehicle? Did you witness the burglary or anyone acting suspiciously in the area at this time? Can you help us identify the man in the images?
