A MAN was assaulted by a gang in an unprovoked attack in Runcorn.
The 21-year-old was walking along Mooring Close in Murdishaw near a boxing club when he saw a group of eight youths beside a wooden area.
One of the youths was on a bike.
When the group spotted the victim they walked towards him shouting insults.
One of the youths, wearing a high-visibility jacket and trousers, came behind the victim and pulled him to the ground and several others assaulted him.
The group then fled towards the park off Gorsewood Road.
The victim was treated for minor injuries in Warrington Hospital.
The attack happened between 7.15pm and 7.25pm on Tuesday, October 21.
Detectives today appealed for help from the public.
Detective Constable Suzanne Parker, of Runcorn CID, said: “This was a very nasty unprovoked attack and could have easily have led to more serious injuries. It also left the victim badly shaken.
“If you know who the offenders are please come forward and speak to an officer.”
