A NEW GP federation has been launched in Halton.

A group of general practices have teamed up to serve patients and the community.

By working together, sharing knowledge and resources, it is hoped these GP practices can run more efficiently and improve the quality of services they provide.

Healthwatch Halton is hosting an event on Thursday, November 30 at 7pm at The Heath Business Park in Runcorn for patients to find out more information.

A local GP will explain the aims of the federation.

Patients are invited to say what they think is wrong with doctors’ surgeries in Halton.

Doctors will talk openly about their views of practices across Runcorn and Widnes.

GPs will describe how they think the future of general practice might look like.

Doctors and practice managers will discuss and share ideas, thoughts and suggestions about what can be done locally to improve services.

A Healthwatch Halton spokesman said: “We don’t see this event as a one-off. “If people are interested, we’re keen to set up some local focus groups that will carry on meeting after the event to discuss and progress specific themes and issues.

“If patients are keen to have a say and help to influence what happens with General Practice in Halton over the next few years, please do book a place at this event and get involved.”
