SWIMMERS at a Hampshire leisure centre will be diving into cleaner and clearer water following a £35,500 investment in new pool technology.
The money has been used to improve the overall swimming provision at River Park Leisure Centre in Winchester and enhance the quality of water in both the main swimming pool and the learner pool.
The enhancements by Winchester City Council involved installing a new ultraviolet system which uses UV light to sanitise the swimming pool water. This means that the amount of chlorine required to keep the water clean and clear will be significantly reduced, which is good news for swimmers who have sensitive skin.
Councillor Lisa Griffiths, portfolio holder for health and well-being, said the changes would result “in a more comfortable swim for everyone”.
