A NEW singing group for patients of long-term lung health conditions is coming to the city.

The 'Singing for Health' choir will aim to get everyone affected by conditions such as lung disease singing - for fun and for the health benefits.

Organised by the British Lung Foundation, Southampton City Clinical Care Group and local NHS health professionals the sessions will start from January 2018.

A spokesperson for the BLF said: "There is increasing evidence that singing regularly as part of a group is good for your general health and wellbeing. It seems to be especially good at improving your quality of life if you’re living with a lung condition - though the class is open to anyone with a long-term health condition so as to be as inclusive as possible.

The singing group uses song to improve breathing, posture and overall wellbeing. Sessions are open to anyone with a long-term health condition e.g. lung disease, heart disease, diabetes, cancer, stroke and will take place every Friday from January 19 from 1-3pm at Bitterne Health Centre.

Refreshments will be provided.

The Health Education room is wheelchair accessible and there is free parking in Commercial St car park

No previous singing experience necessary. Everything is taught by ear in a fun and relaxed environment and it costs £3.00 per session
