A Hampshire junior school teacher raised almost £400 to help children in Africa after her class held a school cake sale.
Victoria Turner, a teacher at Townhill Junior School, is spending her summer in Ghana at a children’s home and has now raised a total of £800 for the home in Kumasi.
An Easter egg raffle and cake sale last Thursday (April 6) raised £390 for the African home, which Victoria will visit between August 6-28 this year.
Victoria, a year six teacher, said: “This money will be added to the fund, giving us a total of just over £800. The money raised will be used to buy much needed resources for the children at the home.
“We also have another raffle in June where businesses such as Tesco, B&Q and Dominos are all interested in donating!"
Kumasi children's home has around 200 children, and can have as few as two volunteers at one time.
