“SOMETHING has to be done before someone is killed.”

Those are the desperate words of a Southampton shop owner after an armed robbery in her store on Onslow Road.

A man with scissors entered Manzil’s Food and Wine at around 10.30pm on Sunday.

He threatened the sales assistant and then fled with the till.

It comes after a series of robberies alleged to have taken place in Southampton, Eastleigh and Rownhams.

A Hampshire Police spokesperson said they are reviewing the incident to see if it is linked to the robbery series.

But Salina Khan, shop owner at Manzil’s Food and Wine is now calling for more measures to be taken before ‘it’s too late’.

The 40-year-old said: “Shop owners need to be told what action to take.

“Police officers should go around and talk to shop owners and suggest measures to take.

“Police did a lot but it’s essential to take some measures.”

Ms Kahn said she was in London when the incident happened and feared for the life of her staff member, who was pushed on the floor by the man.

“She was screaming but no one could hear her.

“It happened in few minutes.

“She was terrified and when she called me to tell me what happened she was in tears.

“I feared for her life.

“In those seconds anything could have happened.

“Those people don’t care about people’s lives.

“They just want to get what they want.”

Ms Khan said the man was wearing a balaclava and gloves and threatened the staff with a pair of scissors.

“He told my staff ‘give me the money or I’ll kill you’.”

“He walked behind the till, cut the wire off the till and grabbed it.

“He pushed her on the floor and she hit her head on the floor, but she was conscious,” Ms Khan added.

She is now calling for action to be taken to stop the spate of robberies across the city.

“We are out there to make a living for ourselves, but it’s scary nowadays.

“I have to carry on, that’s what I do for living but when incidents like this happen you feel scared.”

Police are investigating the incident and are urging anyone with information to call 101 and quote 44170470327.
