All three emergency services were called to a fire in Swaythling this morning.
Police, ambulance and three fire engines raced to the scene on Capon Close just after 10am.
Hampshire Constabulary said there had been no injuries after the blaze, that is believed to have taken place inside a building on the residential street.
A passerby said: "There was loads of activity with lots of police cars and ambulance staff, but I'm not sure quite what was going on."
South Central Ambulance Service confirmed their attendance, but said it was a medical incident and wouldn't comment further.
The fire was out upon arrival of the fire service.
