FOOTBALL, festive fun and foodie events. If you’re not still desperately stocking up on last minute gifts in the shops, there’s plenty to entertain families on the weekend before Christmas.

Here’s our pick of ten of the best things to do in Hampshire...

1 At St Mary’s Stadium...

SAINTS are sweating on the fitness of full backs Cedric Soares and Ryan Bertrand ahead of their crunch game against Huddersfield Town tomorrow at 3pm.

Mauricio Pellegrino’s men take on the newly promoted Terriers in the first of a tough run of festive fixtures this Christmas. They lie three points behind their opponents with a seven goal goal difference deficit.

Tickets are still available to cheer on the Saints.

2 At The Furlong, Ringwood...

A BUZZING Christmas Farmers’ Market tomorrow is perfect for those last minute essentials, party treats or foodie gifts.

The stalls, all part of the Hampshire Farmers’ Market circuit, will be selling a wide range of seasonal produce including award winning meats and cheeses, vegetables, fruit, artisan bread, home-made cakes, pies, bakery goods, mushrooms, fish, food to go, plants and crafts. Plus locally produced apple juice and wines from Hampshire vineyards.

3 In Hampshire cinemas...

More than 20 years after family-friendly fantasy Jumanji starring Robin Williams rampaged through multiplexes, Jake Kasdan directs an action-packed rumble in the jungle tailored to the short attention spans of digitally minded teenagers.

Five screenwriters pay affectionate tribute to the late actor, respectfully passing the narrative baton to a new set of wise-cracking misfits (Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Karen Gillan), who become trapped inside a video game.

Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle is less than the sum of its fitfully entertaining parts.

Kasdan’s film is merrily divorced from realism and relinquishes the childlike innocence of the original for an all-guns-blazing assault on the senses including ribald humour that will be too saucy for very young children.

4 In Southampton...

THE Christmas Market continues until tomorrow with one or two boozy stalls staying open right up to Christmas Eve.

With a traditional German market, expect alpine themed chalets, bratwurst, mulled wine and stein beer. There will be more than 40 stalls selling authentic hand-made gifts.

Youngsters will love the flying Father Christmas as he takes off over the Bargate ready to head off on his worldwide present rounds.

5 On the Watercress Line...

BOARD the festive steam train, see Santa and ride on the Watercress Line with Santa Specials running until Christmas Eve. Santa and his helpers will visit each child in their seat to deliver a gift. With white wine and mince pies for the grown-ups and soft drinks and gingerbread men for the children, there’s festive fun for all. See watercressline.co.uk

6 At Beaulieu...

STEP back in time to a magical Victorian Christmas at Beaulieu with Montagu family pantomime rehearsals, craft activities, traditional decorations in every room of Palace House and carols and punch to enjoy from all weekend.

Join the Montagu family, played by costumed actors, as they prepare for Christmas and new year festivities in their ancestral family home in 1889.

The Christmas Barn is open until tomorrow, along with the soft play area, crazy golf, mini tractors, tea room, gift shop and Farm Produce Shop.
