A GENTLE giant who suffered ‘unthinkable’ animal cruelty and neglect has begun the search for a new home.

Aslan, a Great Dane Mastiff cross, has been transformed thanks to the work of the RSPCA Stubbington Ark centre, who are now looking to see him given a second chance after suffering rotten tail and sores.

His previous owner was prosecuted for cruelty after being found wandering the streets with open sores and a severely rotten tail in November 2016.

Hannah Nandhra, who has been Aslan’s carer since his arrival, said: “Aslan was rescued from cruelty and neglect and now truly deserves a loving new home.

“This gentle giant is a huge softy who would much rather have fuss and attention than play with toys, but can be quite playful at times.

“He can be sensitive to noise and so needs an understanding owner.”

The centre say that Aslan needs an experienced owner due to his particular needs.

Hannah added: “We have been teaching him life lessons here and he is slowly getting there but there are still some areas that need work, such as toilet training.

“He needs an experienced owner who will help him settle at home as he is not used to being in a home environment.

“This handsome chap has a strong dislike to cats and so needs a fully secure garden with high fences.

“He walks well on the lead, we use a hardness, but he will pull if he sees a cat and is very strong, so needs an owner who will continue to help teach him manners on the lead.”

The centre, in Stubbington, care for and rehome cats, dogs and other animals throughout the year.

The charity say that as well as being experienced, Aslan needs an owner who is comfortable with large breed dogs and he needs an adult-only home.
