A police spokesman said: "Officers stopped a Peugeot 106 on Twiggs Lane, Marchwood, shortly before 12.30am today.
"As officers got out of the car to speak to the driver, the Peugeot drove off, colliding with the police car as it did so."
The spokesman said the car was later located in nearby Hythe Road but the driver had left the scene and was still being sought.
She added: "One officer suffered a minor injury as a result of the collision. There was significant damage to the front of the police vehicle."
