A BURNS night in one of Southampton’s most spectacular venues will see cash raised for a vital Hampshire charity.

The event at Solent University’s Spark building will be in aid of the Rainbow Centre in Fareham, which helps people with neurological conditions such as MS, Parkinson’s a stroke or head injury.

But this special event is an addition to the charity’s social calendar - after last year’s Burns Night at Ferneham Hall in Fareham sold out.

Now both events running this month will feature traditional Scottish food and ceilidh dancing in celebration of the great Scottish poet, Robert Burns, the event will include all the traditional formalities including the piping in, toasting and addressing of the haggis.

You will be served a menu of haggis , neeps and tatties followed by cheese, biscuits and tea or coffee with shortbread.

After dinner, there will be a knees up with live music from the Woodsiders Ceilidh Band and their caller, who will walk you through each Scottish dance. The Southampton event starts at 7pm and there is free parking available on campus. It takes place on January 27.

The Ferneham Hall Burns night takes place at 7pm on January 26.

Tickets are £27.50 per person and must be pre-booked by calling 01329 289500 or by visiting www.rainbowcentre.org/events.

The Rainbow Centre provides a vital service of Conductive Education for children with Cerebral Palsy and adults with neurological conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s, a stroke or a head injury.

The centre aims to give all their participants greater independence by working on developing or re-learning vital skills like speech, sitting, standing, walking, co-ordination, and balance.
