POLICE have launched an appeal after a pedestrian was left with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car in a collision in a Hampshire town.

The pedestrian, a 42-year-old man who has not been named, was involved in a collision with a silver BMW on Redlands Lane in Fareham, at 4.50pm on Sunday.

The man suffered serious injuries and was taken to Southampton General Hospital and remains in a critical condition.

The road was closed for several hours to allow investigations into the cause of the collision to get underway and was reopened at 9.30pm.

No one else was injured as a result of the collision.

Sergeant James Fibbens, from the Joint Roads Policing Unit, said: “It happened outside the parade of shops, so we would like to speak to anyone who had visited the shops around that time.

“Any information could really help our investigations.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Hampshire Police on 101, quoting 44180017795, or by contacting Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
