AN elderly Hampshire woman died after losing control of her mobility scooter and hitting her head on the kerb, an inquest heard.
Retired bookkeeper's secretary Eileen Hurst from Southampton fell while trying to push her scooter down a steep hill on the way back from the shops after it ran out of charge.
The 81-year-old, who had a history of falls, suffered a severe head injury and died two days later on February 24 last year.
Winchester Coroner's Court heard that Mrs Hurst, of Mersham Gardens, had had the scooter for around six months, but kept forgetting to charge it, forcing her to push it around.
Pathologist Dr Mark Walker told the inquest Mrs Hurst suffered a skull fracture as well as bleeding on the brain.
Central Hampshire coroner Grahame Short recorded a conclusion of an accidental death.
