HUNDREDS of children from a Southampton primary school have been sent home after the school’s heating failed.
The 412 youngsters at Harefield Primary School were told not to come in when the biomass boiler broke down.
A spokesperson for the school said engineers were on their way to the Yeovil Chase site and that head teacher Georgia Radford had told parents before school started this morning.
A statement on Southampton City Council’s website says: “Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, we have no heating at Harefield Primary School today and will have to remain closed.
"We are doing everything we to rectify the problem and hope to open again tomorrow.”
