I HAVE nothing against the proposed fines (Echo, Feb 3) for the way bins are filled or not filled by the council and the way that they are trying to lessen the unnecessary waste created by some lazy households.
Judging by the evidence I saw while walking along Wilton Road in the student-populated area of the Polygon, I noticed bins overflowing and plastic bags in the recycled bins, paper waste in the normal bin which stands next to the recycle bin, etc.
My question to the council is: are the letting agents/landlords going to be fined or are they going to turn a blind eye because the residents are poor students? If this is the future generation then Lord help us.
