A HAMPSHIRE road is to remain closed for a month after it was shut for gas works.
Maurys Lane, in West Wellow, has been shut by gas company SGN, formerly Southern Gas Networks, since Monday, and planning bosses say it will remain so until March 5.
The lane links West Wellow to the A36.
SGN says it is upgrading the entire gas network for the road, and that access will be maintained for residents.
The road is currently shut from the western point of Maurys Lane south westwards to Salisbury Road.
SGN said: “To ensure everyone’s safety, Maurys Lane will be temporarily closed. A signed diversion will be in place for through traffic. We understand people can get frustrated by roadworks, however, the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years.”
