A CANDLELIT vigil is being held in memory of a talented student who died when she was crushed beneath a barrier at a North-East nightclub.
Olivia Burt, who was 20, suffered fatal head injuries as she queued to get into Missoula in Durham City, just before midnight on Wednesday night.
She was in the first year of a degree in natural sciences at Durham University and her death has devastated the city’s student community.
The vigil will be held in courtyard of Durham Castle at 5pm on Monday
An email forwarded to students with a message from the Master of Castle said: “All of those who knew Olivia or who had any connection to her are welcome at this vigil.”
Miss Burt, a former head girl at Bournemouth School for Girls, and an only child from Milford-on-Sea, between Bournemouth and Southampton, was part of the British Sailing team in the European Championships.
She was with friends from the university sailing team when the tragedy at the Walkergate complex happened.
